I ordered two Thai language books (as recommended by the instructor at the school I’m going to) by James Higbie.
Well I thought I’m going to be there for almost a year so why not give learning the language a go.
One is a Thai gammar reference and the other a language guide. Below is the language guide :
On the right hand side is the book itself, and from my quick glance through looks very readable and well structured.
And that thing on the left hand side ?
Well for those of you under the age of 30, it’s what we used to call an Audio Cassette Tape.
Here we are at the dawn of the new millenium and what do I get ? A DVD ? A mp3 file ? At least a CD ?
No !

I’ve decided as of this week to stop drinking.
I thought it would be a good start to my new life in Thailand if from when I get there I just don’t drink. It’ll be easier just to tell people I don’t drink and that’s that, rather than maybe having the odd one or two and then if I’m on a night out you get into that whole ‘oh go on just have another’ shite.
So nae drugs and nae booze for me, just sun, sand and good living
I am however still smoking, but only because I look so cool when I do so…

The final piece of the plan now in place – I fly out Wednesday the 5th of December from Heathrow to Doha and then onto Bangkok. Total travel time 14 hours and 5 minutes
Oh, Doha is in Qatar which I believe is somewhere in the middle east
I was very impressed with Qatar airlines meal selection
I remember the days when you had just two choices veggie or non-veggie. I of course went for the Oriental option to try and get into the spirit of things…
What do you think the chances are of it being chicken curry and chips ?
