The last two days have been spent at sea doing rescues on, responsive/unresponsive diver at surface, responsive/unresponsive underwater, throwing lines/floatation devices, CPR, administering Oxygen, carrying fat bastards up the ladder onto the boat, carrying same fat bastards up a beach, etc
I’m knackered !

Below is the PADI education flowchart
I’m currently at Open Water level, which I initially did 6 years ago in the Red Sea. I finished my refresher course today (finally back in the sea - I had forgotten how good it was) and I start my advanced open water course tomorrow.
I’m here for 9 months with the intention of getting to IDC staff instructor – basically I can not only teach people to dive but I can also teach instrustors.
Will I be able to handle the pressure ? Will I be able to pass all the exams ? Will I be able to swim 400m in under 12 minutes ? Will I just drop all the scuba diving pretence and just get on with being a lady boy ?
Time will tell…

That’s me in Pattaya !
Arrived yesterday at about 11:30 local time – no sleep on flights so totally knackered.
Left Leith at 7 am on Thursday, brother and I got 35 bus from the bottom of the Walk to Embra airport, got the 9:35 flight to Heathrow. Then Qatar airlines 14:15 to D0ha, arrived Dona 11:55. Quick scamper into duty free to get 1000 Marlboro menthols for £30 (yes I know they’re bad for me but at those prices I can’t afford not to smoke them !), before jumping onto the 01:15 to Bangkok – arriving at 11:30 to be greeted by 30 degree heat and the sun literally frying my pasty white skin off my carcass.
Trying to orientate myself with the place (and also find a USB cable to upload my travle photos so far). Place seems great and all the staff/students here at the dive centre are brand new.
So very upbeat and positive about making this move and really looking forward to the next 9 months.
Stay tuned for more antics as they happen
(Big thanks Grant for coming with me to the airpost 5 hourse before his usual get out of bed time….)
